Remembrance Day Service - Yarra Junction.

At today's Yarra Junction Remembrance Day service hosted by the Upper Yarra RSL Sub-Branch.
It must never be forgotten that this was the Ultimate Sacrifice. I can’t imagine the pain and misery that must have been experienced both on the battle field but more so at home by those receiving the news of a lost husband, son, grandson or brother.
Over the past 5 years the Upper Yarra RSL Sub-Branch in conjunction with Yarra Ranges Council embarked on projects to commemorate the centenary of the Great War but above all to continue to remember those young fallen who made the Ultimate Sacrifice. Those projects, The Yarra Junction Avenue of Honour & the Wesburn Avenue of Honour both on the Rail Trail are to commemorate that this was where these young men embarked on a journey of no return.
Please take the time to walk these avenues and reflect on all those young lives lost.
On behalf of the Mayor of Yarra Ranges Council, Cr Tony Stevenson and my fellow Councillors, can I ask you all to join me in thanking the Upper Yarra RSL for these Avenues of Honour commemorations - ‘100 years of ANZAC, The Spirit Lives.
Thank you – Lest We Forget.
