Warburton Place Plan Update.

More time to respond to the Engagement and Directions Paper.
Yarra Ranges Council's Draft Warburton Place Plan will be released to the community for consultation in early 2020.
In October, Councillors approved the development of the Draft Warburton Place Plan, following community engagement between December 2018 and May 2019.
That engagement informed an Engagement and Directions Paper, which contains the major themes, issues and opportunities raised in workshops, meetings and feedback from community members. Copies of the Engagement and Directions Paper are available at the Art Centre, Warburton. Since Council’s decision, community members have requested more time to respond to the Engagement and Directions Paper.
Our Place Planning Team will continue work with the community to gather additional feedback, which will inform the draft in early 2020.
The draft, when completed, will be released to the community for consultation before the place plan is updated and finalised.
For more information, to read the Engagement and Directions Paper and to stay up to date, visit yarraranges.vic.gov.au/warbyplaceplan.
We encourage community to get in touch with the project team, email placeplanning@yarraranges.vic.gov.au or call 1300 368 333.

Warburton MTB Destination Engagement Report

Thanks for telling us your thoughts about the Warburton Mountain Bike Destinatioin in 2018 and 2019!
We’ve heard from more than 300 community members about the project over the last 18 months, representing business , government and community groups, as well as people from a range of backgrounds.
This feedback was shared through drop-in sessions, meetings and an online survey, along with the State Government’s Engage Victoria website, and has directly resulted in changes to trail alignments to better protect the environment, removal of trails near residential areas and mapping and protection of areas of historical significance.
All of this has informed the Draft Master Plan, which we’re expecting to share with the community in March 2020.
The Draft Master Plan will explore different parts of the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination project, including environmental considerations, trail alignments and ideas for future stages.
Community feedback on the draft will be essential for creating the final Master Plan, which will be presented to Council for consideration.
We’ve compiled all of the feedback received over the last 18 months into an Engagement Report featuring  feedback we received on a number of key themes, including:
  • The road network
  • Traffic and parking
  • Environmental management
  • Trail route and design
  • Additional trails
  • Private property
  • Bush walking
  • Safety risks
  • Protection of heritage or culturally significant sites
Read the Engagement Report

Enjoy reading the report and I encourage you to stay tuned for further updates!
Have a safe and happy holidays, and I’ll have more to share with you soon.
