Community Event - Insurance and Rebuilding in a Bushfire Prone Area.

A free community event for home owners and renters that will better prepare you for bushfire in the Upper Yarra Valley.
Adequate insurance is one of the greatest lessons we can take from the 2009 bushfires. This forum aims to unlock the fine print about insurance and rebuilding so that you can be better prepared for emergencies in the Upper Yarra Valley. Speakers include the Insurance Council of Australia, Yarra Ranges Council (planning and building) and Fire Front Consultancies (Bushfire Attack Level Assessments).
So the forum meets your needs, you can submit specific questions via text to 0428 338 204. Transport assistance is available in some areas and AUSLAN interpreters will be organised on request. Ring or text Kym on 0428 338 204 to discuss these services.

New Toilets at Woori Yallock Station. Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail.

A much needed facility I've lobbied hard for over a number of years...........
No Longer a 500m walk to toilets, the new toilet facilities are now operational at the Yarra Ranges Council Symes Rd Park in very close proximity to the Woori Yallock Station on the Lilydale - Warburton Rail Trail. A big thank you to Council's Recreation & Active Living Team.
A recent comment to Council from a Trail user. ......
" I would like to thank the Shire of Yarra Ranges for installing the new toilet block at the picnic area at Woori Yallock on the Lilydale – Warburton Rail Trail. My Thursday Cyclists group like to ride the trail from Lilydale from time to time and Woori Yallock makes a very good lunch stop. The installation of the picnic facilities a couple of years ago was most welcome, and now with toilets close at hand we have ideal conditions for a comfortable and relaxing lunch stop. I’m sure that all these facilities will be well used and will encourage even more people to use this very delightful rail trail." - Cyclist Group.

Yarra Centre Solar System

On the roof of our Yarra Centre, Yarra Junction.....
The Yarra Centre is one of three Yarra Ranges Council buildings with 99kW solar systems.
A 99kW system is about 33x larger than the average household solar system size.
Installed in May 2018 the Yarra Centre Solar System has already saved Council $10,000. .......

Improvements at the Warburton Redwood Forest

Following on from my lobbying to Council and ParksVic. ...........
Fantastic amenity improvements at the Warburton Parks Victoria Redwood Forest... Large off Cement Crk Rd car park, better access & signage. Also Yarra Ranges Council sealing of Cement Crk Rd to the Yarra Bridge makes for better access and dust relief for neighboring residents. With today's announcement of a $300k investment for toilets will make our Redwood Forest a better place to visit.
A big thank you to Parks Victoria and staff at Yarra Ranges Council..... Agencies working together for a great outcome.
