Ted Chisholm

The Warburton Advancement League, Warburton and the Upper Yarra will never forget our Ted. Life Member of the Warburton Advancement League,Yarra Ranges Councill Citizen of the Year 2000 & John Howard Prime Minister Award 2000.
Edwin 'Ted' Chisholm was born on 15th April 1919 in the house where his family lived. “This was next door to where the Presbyterian Church is now in the main street of Warburton, Victoria – La La it’s called up the east end. I was a La La man.” - Ted.
Ted grew up and went to the local school, and began working at the age of 14. He worked for a local motor business, spent time in the army during the war, married his wife Peg in 1942, getting special leave from the army, had a family and worked with the local buses and tourism industry.
Ted was a well-known identity of Warburton having worked in different capacities in the area. He is most known for his continued activity after retirement as the head of “Ted’s River Crew” which saw the group transform the banks of the Yarra River through Warburton into accessible pathways and seating areas and parks that everyone enjoys today. He was passionate about the river and his town. Ted passed away on July 13, 2012 Aged 93 years, his funeral procession through his hometown saw the locals line the length of the main street, paying their respects and honouring his amazing life and his contribution to Warburton.
