VicRoads Safety Issues continue along the Warburton Hwy & Woods Point Rd.

Along with the serious issue at Seville East, I again raised at last Tuesday's Yarra Ranges Council meeting the serious safety issues that STILL exist between Barak Drive and Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction. Also the COMMITMENT made by VicRoads regarding access following the removal of the Pedestrian Bridge at McMahons Creek.
"In accordance with Clause 80 of Meeting Procedures and Use of Common Seal Local Law 2015
9.1 Safety Issue on the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail.
Cr Child raised the issue of the safety of those using the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. In particular, concern was expressed regarding the section between Barak Drive and
Warburton Highway where there is little to no protection. It was reported that although VicRoads had been notified of concerns in 2017 and that a request was made to install protection on the Highway side in 2018, they had responded that there had been no record of fatalities. It was reported that a further letter to VicRoads has been sent to VicRoads and that Council were awaiting a response. In light of a recent accident at this location Cr Child has requested that the Director Environment & Infrastructure report back to the next
Forum outlining the progress of this matter. He also suggested that if a response was not received from VicRoads before the next Council meeting, Council should write to the
Minister. Councillors agreed to the request"
"9.3 Pedestrian Bridge at McMahons Creek.
Cr Child raised the matter of the commitment made by VicRoads regarding access following the removal of the Pedestrian Bridge at McMahons Creek. It was reported that
the community continued to raise the matter and Cr Child therefore requested a report back to Forum on this. Councillors agreed to the request."
