Council supporting businesses to move to cheaper renewable power

The success of a two-year pilot Environmental Upgrade Agreement Program that enables businesses to upgrade buildings to improve energy efficiency and lower operating costs will continue, after gaining support at the 23rd June Council Meeting.
The EUA program enables business prosperity through facilitating building upgrades that improve environmental performance that:
• Lower operational costs for business
• Generate local employment, and
• Create sustainable branding opportunities
An EUA is an agreement between a property owner, a financial institution and local government. The agreement facilitates building upgrades that improve environmental performance. Where there are tenants leasing the property, EUAs allow for tenants to contribute to the costs of the upgrade and share in the benefits with the property owner.
Further details of the Environmental Upgrade Program can accessed from either Yarra Ranges Council or Sustainable Australia Fund websites or make contact with the Sustainability Team at Council on 1300 368 333.
Council’s draft Liveable Climate Plan is also currently out for community consultation, where residents can have their say by visiting https://yrc.vic.gov.au/climate.
